FORMER Argyle striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is to appear in

court charged with assault after an alleged bottling incident

outside a Union Street nightclub.

The 21-year-old footballer – who was bought from Manchester

United in July 2006 and sold last month to Wolverhampton

Wanderers for £1.5million – answered bail at Charles Cross

police station yesterday morning.

He was charged with a Section 47 offence, actual bodily

harm, which carries a maximum jail sentence of five years, and

a Section Four public order offence, which carries a maximum

tariff of six months’ imprisonment and/or a £5,000 fine.

Mr Ebanks-Blake was arrested on November 11 last year at

4.15am following an alleged incident outside the Candy Store,

in Union Street.

A 37-year-old man, believed to be a doorman, had suffered a

two-to three-inch cut to his head.

Mr Ebanks-Blake had earlier played in Argyle’s 3-0

Championship victory over Norwich City at Home Park.

The striker, who was granted police bail, is set to appear

again before Plymouth magistrates on February 20.
