250 sandbags given out as flooding hits homes in South Hams
Two hundred and fifty sandbags were given out by the District Council as flooding hit homes across the South Hams at the weekend.
The Council’s Totnes depot opened at 9.30am on Saturday for residents to collect the sandbags to help protect their homes and businesses.

People arrived from Broadhempston, Dartington, Littlehempston, Staverton, Totnes and Tuckenhay to pick up supplies.
The Council’s Emergency Planning team were also able to give advice and information to Littlehempston Parish Council and local residents affected by the flood water.

Three Council workers, who serve as retained fire fighters in Totnes, were called out in the early hours of Saturday morning and spent the day helping people affected by the flooding.
