75 per cent of Plymouth people would be scared of going into a care home, report finds
ALMOST 75 per cent of people in the South West would be scared about going into a care home, a new report has found.
The report, entitled Low Expectations, published today by the Alzheimer's Society, also found that nearly three quarters of relatives would recommend their loved one's care home despite less than half saying their relative has a good quality of life.
Debbie Donnison, for the charity, said: "Care homes shouldn't be seen as an isolated place of last resort but as part of the wider community. They should be championing the fact that with the right support, it is possible to live well with dementia."

“A few years ago I would have had reservations about care homes but with all the recent publicity I reckon care homes will be 'pulling up their socks' and being careful with its residents for fear of bad press and I would say it's probably safer now than ever before. Until the furore dies down, of course.”
