Plymouth man accused of raping girl to face Crown Court

A PLYMOUTH man accused of raping a girl under the age of 16 has had his case sent to Crown Court.

Stewart Pearce, from Rochford Crescent, in Ernesettle, appeared before city magistrates yesterday.

He has been charged with four counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16.

The alleged offences took place between May 21 last year and April 23 this year, Crown Prosecution Service prosecutors say.

Pearce also faces one charge of raping a girl under 16 between the same dates.

The 26-year-old entered no plea yesterday.

His case was sent to Plymouth Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on November 12.

Pearce was granted conditional bail by the bench.

Magistrates also scheduled a plea and case management hearing for February 4 next year.
