A SACKED charity worker and animal rights activist from Saltash arrested on suspicion of fraud has been rebailed by police.

Steve Taylor was axed as spokesman for the anti-hunting organisation the League Against Cruel Sports in November last year. The 35-year-old was sacked by the Surrey-based charity for gross misconduct following a disciplinary investigation centering on expenses claims. The former head of campaigns and communications is still under investigation by police probing possible financial irregularities.

Police confirmed a 35-year-old man from Saltash recently answered police bail at Guildford police station in Surrey and has been rebailed until March 6, pending further inquiries.

A PRODUCTION of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream will be performed at Ivybridge Community College.

Limelight Theatre Company presents the tale of magic, mistakes and mischief with performances from the 37 members of the cast.

Tickets are available from student reception for £3.50 or £2.50 (concessions).

The performances on Tuesday January 17 and Wednesday 18 start at 7pm in the Performance Hall at the College.

Pony centre

IN our report on the Ponderosa Pony Rescue Centre (The Herald, January 12) we said that the centre was moving after being evicted by Wolf Minerals. This was incorrect.

The land currently used for the centre is not owned or controlled by Wolf Minerals.

We are happy to make this point clear.
