But a second try in the match by Pirates winger Matt Evans and an 80th-minute penalty by on-loan Rob Cook secured the home side victory.
In the end Albion were left to rue five missed kicks at goal – three penalties and two conversions – by fly-half Paul Roberts.
Nat Saumi's side did out-score the Pirates on tries with Herbie Stupple, Bevon Armitage and summer signing Rupeni Nasiga crossing, but it was not enough for victory.
However, Albion did pick up an away bonus point and they will be looking to bounce back next Saturday when they entertain Leeds at Brickfields.
