A police spokesman said: "This is out of character for Jamie and we are keen to locate him or know that he's safe.
"It's possible he's still in the Ivybridge area but we know he has a close friend in Southampton so it's possible he could have made his way there."
Jamie is described as being 5ft 5in tall, of very slim build with dark brown, short hair.
He was last seen wearing a turquoise blue jacket with jeans and trainers.
Police are carrying out a number of enquiries to locate Jamie.
If anyone has either seen someone matching his description or has any information that could help to locate him they are asked to call police on 101 and quote log number 628 of January 6 2013.

“Negative ratings for mentioning that the Herald forgot to include a picture of the person...?”
