BURNLEY striker Alex MacDonald is returning to Plymouth Argyle for a second loan spell, writes Chris Errington.

The 22-year-old has put pen to paper today on a short-term arrangement until October 6.

MacDonald will be available for Argyle's League Two clash against Northampton Town at Home Park tomorrow (3pm).

His latest loan period covers eight games, up until the visit of AFC Wimbledon on October 6.

MacDonald played for Burnley against Argyle in the Capital One Cup secound tie at Turf Moor on Tuesday night.

It was his first start of the season for the Clarets and came after one previous substitute appearance in 2012/13.

MacDonald spent the final two months of last season on loan to Argyle, playing 18 games and scoring four goals.

He then returned to the Championship club and signed a new 12-month contract.

Argyle manager Carl Fletcher inquired about a permanent move for MacDonald earlier this summer, but that did not come off.

“This bloke greensensible is what is known as a " WUM" A wind up merchant who spends his time trawling football team websites spouting rubbish with his sole intention of winding people up. met him before when BBC 606 was active.

Ignore his comments, don't let him goad you into a response so hopefully soon he'll crawl back under his stone.”

“Hopefully it will turn into a season long loan, think Alex likes the set up here and his chances of a regular frst start at Burnley seem to be limited at the moment.
Well done Fletch, right sort of player for the greens.”

“Great news. Shame its not for longer, but maybe it will get extended.

Greensensible - You are so clearly not an argyle fan (probably a fan of that mob up the road)and are just trying to wind people up. Do you not have better things to do with your time? Sad.”
