Plymouth Argyle Under-15s...1 South Coast Bayern...1 (Bayern won 7-6 on penalties)

ONCE again Argyle's inability to convert their penalties cost them as they suffered their third consecutive defeat in the Northern Ireland Junior Milk Cup — and second on the trot in a penalty shoot-out.

On Wednesday they suffered spot-kick woe against Japanese side Kashima Antlers, while yesterday the same thing happened against American outfit South Coast Bayern.

Argyle will now meet Everton, who also lost on penalties yesterday, at The Riada Stadium, Ballymoney today (11am).

Allan Evans' youngsters should have had yesterday's game sewn up in normal time after the Americans had Frankie Perez red-carded for a challenge on Argyle skipper Andrew Parker in the 18th minute.

The young Pilgrims were a goal down at that stage as the impressive Robbie Saga had fired Bayern ahead after just 10 minutes.

Central defender Lloyd Jones had already missed a good opportunity to level the score before Argyle finally levelled on 22 minutes.

Tyler Harvey wriggled past his marker down the right before steering a shot inside the far post from the tightest of angles.

A Parker error then let in Sagel but Walton rescued his skipper with a fine save.

Argyle then took control, but could not find the breakthrough.

Danny Barrow, twice, Lloyd Jones and Kennelly all spurned good chances before the dreaded penalty shoot-out ensued.

Harvey, for the second match running, saw his spot-kick saved before the following six kicks were all scored.

However, thene Walton superbly saved Kashtin de la Cruz's effort to level the scores at 3-3.

The next four penalties all found the back of the net before Eddie Dann saw his effort saved but Walton once again proved equal to the task as he kept out Alec Affarian's spot-kick. But, as the competition moved into sudden death, Ben Purrington saw his drive saved leaving Quinn Brody to score the final kick of the game.

Argyle: C Walton, B Purrington, L Jones, A Dunn, R Taylor (C Brimicombe 41), A Parker (capt), T Gostling, T Harvey, C Kennelly, D Barrow (S Coombe 47), F Lekimamati (E Dann 36), Substitutes (not used): L Rooney, A Hannah.
