Arts festival for young people
AN ARTS festival for young people set to bring the city alive is being planned for this summer.
The annual Big Arts Festival, celebrating its tenth anniversary, will take place July 3 -11 and promises to be even bigger and better than last year.
Organisers say the event offers unique opportunities for schools, community groups, children's centres, arts organisations, artists and many more to showcase the creative work that happens all year round.
Organiser Richard Marsh said: "With the on-going theme of inclusion, BAF, also enables local communities to get involved with exciting arts activities."
Coordinated by Barefoot, Plymouth's arts education agency, events to look out for at multiple venues around Plymouth include a huge carnival parade through the city centre, a big arts day at Plymouth Pavilions and a dance extravaganza day.
The festival will kick off Friday July 3 with East End Art of the Community day at TR2. Events will take place all over the city from Devonport to Keyham, Plymstock and Mutley.
Organisers are looking for as many people to get involved as possible. If you can offer any support for this event or just want to get involved with activities contact Julie Matthews or Richard Marsh on 01752 636700 x 2389/5654 or jmatthews@marjon.ac.uk or rmarsh@marjon.ac.uk.
