Ashes face replay after squandering advantage in FA Vase first qualifying round
Falmouth Town...2 Saltash United...2 aet
THE Ashes should have had this tie won at the first time of asking but they let their hosts off the hook after surrendering a two-goal lead at Bickland Park.
The action will now move to Kimberley Stadium for tomorrow's replay but Saltash will be aware that it was only just over two weeks earlier that Town won 1-0 there in the league.
Saltash opened the scoring on 27 minutes when Mark Chapman's perfect volley flew across Town goalkeeper Jason Chapman from 16 yards and into the far top left-hand corner of net.
Marc Thorne's chip over the Falmouth's goalkeeper five minutes later doubled their lead.
But Saltash were caught cold at the start of the second half. After only a minute Falmouth threw themselves a life-line when Liam Eddy fired a low, hard shot past the diving Hider.
Saltash were further hampered when the influential Chapman suffered a re-occurrence of his long-term knee injury and with two minutes of normal time remaining Falmouth sent the tie into extra time when Johnny Ludlam curled a free-kick around the Ashes defensive wall and into the top corner of Hider's goal.
Extra time was a niggling affair with both sides collecting yellow cards instead of goals and the action now switches to Kimberley Stadium.

Elburton Villa...4 Royal Marines...2
ELBURTON VILLA continued their good form with an eventful victory over the Royal Marines at Haye Road.
It was a game that saw three penalties for the visitors and a sending off for the home side.
Villa took the lead in the 26th minute with a low 20-yard drive from Lewis Edwards, but they were pegged back nine minutes later when the Marines levelled through Dan Boere's close range effort.
Villa restored their lead seconds before the break when Edwards crossed and in-form striker Paul Baker tapped the ball into an empty net from six yards out.
The visitors had a chance to level in the 66th minute, but Shae Saunders hit the crossbar from the penalty spot. Seven minutes later Saunders' second attempt from the spot flew over the crossbar.
Ten minutes from time goalkeeper Simon May received a second yellow card after clipping Dawson in the area to concede a third penalty.
This time the Marines found the net from 12 yards with Lloyd Gardner firing past Villa substitute goalkeeper Dan Batten.
Villa fought back and in the 85th minute, substitute Steve Sims crashed home a free-kick and two minutes from time, a superb pass from Baker picked out substitute Myles Easton who ran through to slot home a fourth.
Bovey Tracey...1 Ivybridge Town...5
IVYBRIDGE climbed to third in the Premier Division with an emphatic victory at the Western Counties Roofing Ground.
After a scoreless first half, Joe Truelove struck twice for the Bridgers in a scintillating second half display.
"We totally dominated the second half and we could have scored even more than we did," said Bridgers joint manager Brian Howard.
Truelove began the rout with a header just after half time and it was not long before Dennis Mason doubled the lead with a rasping drive from the right.
Truelove headed home his second from a corner midway through the half before Bovey pulled a goal back through Dan Taylor's close range effort.
Ivybridge were not derailed for long, however, as Sam Stevens scored their fourth with a header before substitute Jamie Middleton completed the scoring with an 18 yard shot late on.
Plymouth Parkway...4 Tavistock...2
A GOOD crowd at Bolitho Park were rewarded with a superb derby contest that had just about everything.
Tavistock were in charge of the opening 35 minutes and Parkway, who had lost skipper Will Stringer to injury, were hanging on.
Only a superb goal-line clearance by Marc Bonney prevented Dan Pethick from giving the Lambs an early lead but the striker was not to be denied, giving Tavistock a deserved 24th minute lead.
Dave Hallett sent a superb ball over the top of the home defence and Pethick showed great control before lashing the ball past Ben Elphick from 16 yards.
It was 2-0 on the half-hour when new signing Jimmy Alexander's free-kick was beaten out by Elphick, but the midfielder simply smashed the rebound low into the corner of the net from the edge of the area.
Parkway were thrown a life-line two minutes before the break when Chris Wright volleyed the ball home from close range. That was the fillip the home side required as they were the dominant side for the rest of the game.
Wright levelled the scores on 58 minutes but the pendulum looked to have swung the opposite way when Lance Bailey was sent off for a professional foul on Pethick.
But it was Parkway who stepped up a gear taking a 71st minute lead when Wright completed a fine hat-trick with a brave diving header.
Tavistock were also reduced to 10 men two minutes from time when Jamie Ahearn was sent off for handling substitute Lewis Young's shot on the line.
It gave Andy Sargent the opportunity to complete the scoring from the penalty spot.
Torpoint Athletic...4 Wadebridge Town...0
THE Tamarsiders put the record straight against the Premier Division's bottom club with this comfortable victory at The Mill.
Torpoint drew 1-1 at Wadebridge on the opening day of the campaign, which is the Bridgers' only point of the season, but they were in no mood for a repeat of that performance in this game.
Early chances fell to Josh Grant and Mike Roberts before Torpoint took a 14th minute lead.
Grant went on a great solo run which ended with him shooting low past goalkeeper Ben Hurst from 20 yards.
Within a minute it was 2-0 as Adam Carter intercepted Leighton Cahart's poor clearance to give Hurst no chance from 10 yards.
The points were practically in the bag on 22 minutes when Grant crossed from the right to find Gavin Woodward and he shot into the net from 20 yards on the angle.
The scoring was completed after just five minutes of the second half when substitute Karl Curtis turned and crashed home a low drive from 25 yards.
Torpoint continued to create chances but could not find the back of the visitors' net again.
Liskeard Athletic...1 Buckland Athletic...3
LEIGH COOPER'S Blues gave one of their best performances of the season in the first half of this game against the reigning champions at Lux Park.
Cooper would have been disappointed that his side went in at the break on level terms as they had twice hit the woodwork before handing Buckland an helping hand just before the break.
Liskeard took the lead on 31 minutes when Richard Maddison, on the right wing, robbed Luke Horrocks before firing the ball to the far post where Matt Lindsay arrived to force it home.
But goalkeeper Simon Zinn, who had earlier saved Simon Revell's penalty kick, had a rush of blood as he stormed out of his goal, missing his clearance, to leave Shane Gill the chance to hook the ball into an empty net from the edge of the area.
Buckland showed why they are the current league leaders as they enjoyed playing down the slope in the second half as goals from Gill and Mike Booth kept their 100 per cent record alive.
