Assault on vulnerable man offered lift home

POLICE are appealing for information after a vulnerable man was left shaken after being indecently touched.

The victim, who is in his 40s, was walking home in the early hours of Saturday, January 20 when he stumbled over beside a silver-coloured car parked in the bus bay outside Plymouth Citybus depot in Alma Road.

The male driver offered the man a lift home but, when they arrived at the victim's house in Keyham the victim was indecently touched.

Police say the incident, which happened as he sat in the car, left the vulnerable man feeling upset and traumatised.

A police spokesman said: "We would urge this man to come forward. It may just be a misunderstanding, but we would like to hear from him."

The suspect was described as white, in his late 40s to early 50s, with oval shaped silver thin -rimmed glasses oval in shape, and a local accent. He was tall, with thin grey receding hair and was smartly dressed.

Anyone who saw the vehicle, described as a Mondeo-style car, parked in the bus bay some time between 3am and 5am is asked to contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting crime reference number ED/13/373.
