HONOUR: Apprentice scaffolder Andy Bradford
The 22-year-old, who works for South West firm LTC Group87, has been undertaking his scaffolding and access apprenticeship at the college since May last year.
He travels up for two weeks every three or four months in a bid to become a fully qualified scaffolder when his course finishes in November.
The former Estover Community College student, in his second year on the course, said he was nominated for the award — but it came as a surprise when he won it.
He said: "I won it for the work I am doing in the college. It feels good to know I have been noticed for my work on the course."
Mr Bradford's award was sponsored by the National Access and Scaffolding Confederation. He was one of 17 students recognised at a college ceremony.
The college's centre manager, Chris Barrett, said: "We are very proud of our students and what they have achieved."
