A LOCAL security firm has been involved in a secret operation to protect the Queen's Diamond Jubilee brooch while it was being partly created in Devon.

Plymouth-based Securi-Guard provided a monitored intruder alarm system at Lasting Impressions Bespoke Goldsmiths, in Bovey Tracey, while artisan goldsmith Ian Hall worked on the platinum and gold brooch. Ian said: "I want to thank Securi-Guard for the excellent job they did in helping to protect the Queen's brooch while we were privileged to be working on it for the British Jewellers Association.

“Back in the day when ideas were unowned yet ours
In gift friended present to all whom left our sunny fields afar
Each day, each Christmas, in guardian trusted voice
Our Queen, our steadfast voice, our ever'ed Princess”
