Barnes set to join Torquay on loan
PLYMOUTH Argyle striker Ashley Barnes is set to sign on loan for League Two club Torquay United.
Pilgrims’ head coach Paul Mariner confirmed to Herald Sport this morning that the 20-year-old was poised for a move to the Gulls.

Barnes’ opportunities of first team football with Argyle have been reduced by the signing of USA international forward Kenny Cooper last week.
Torquay, struggling near the bottom of League Two, are in need of a striker after Scott Rendell suffered a broken forearm recently.
Barnes has made three starts and four substitute appearances for Argyle in the Championship this season.
He scored in the 4-1 victory over Reading at Home Park at the end of December.

“Atlonglast - the charity work done by Rory unfortunately does not make him a good footballer.
If it did we would have the Pope and Mother Theresa up front.”

“Will everyone take note- No-one has a condition of the knee that means he can't play for long periods of time at the moment!! It's not about him not being rated - they don't want to make his condition worse!!!!! Look up Osgood-Schlatters.”

“People should understand that players on the pitch follow the managers instructions and not play how they think they should ,Fallon does what PM tells him what he wants him to do as all the team does ,end of argument .
Good move for Barnes he needs experience and may score at Div2 level which will give him soom confidence .
The game at Reading is make or break and I think an attacking line up is whats needed ,its obvious that the lack of goals have put us in the position we are in ,so my line up would be (if fit)
Stockdale
McNamee
Johnson R
Arnason
Sawyer
Mackie
Johnson D
Noone
Wright-Phillips
Cooper
a gamble yes ,but something a bit different because I think we are predictable .

“........good try at defending Fallon, Richard!
Truth is the 'team shape' you speak of is route 1 and league 1 at the very best.
I'm not a fan of Fallon, nor am I anti however, I believe he's willing and works hard at his game.
What Argyle fans need to see though is that we cannot, will not, survive and prosper in the Championship playing the team shape that we do currently.
Reda Johnson looked no worse than Fallon when he went forward late on....why? because it's a poor strategy that seldom produces the desired result, but it does suit a 6'.5'' player.
On the subject of Mackie, my view is that he hasn't improved since day 1, he's still playing like a kid in the park, keen as mustard but head down and playing alone.....you can almost hear him commentating to himself on his own performance!
Strangel Alan Judge has dipped in form quite dramatically too, Mariner keeps mentioning Bolassie and yet doesn't put him on the bench, whereas BWP is ALWAYS on the bench but clearly not doing enough in training for Mariner to take a punt on him????
Noone came on and ran with the ball as always......but ten or fifteen minutes every week is not enough for him to show the form we need!
Come on Mariner.......sign a real, recognised and in form (loan if needs be) striker!”

“Richard, thank you! At last some sense is written about Fallon! It always amazes me how someone who works so hard on such extremely limited service get so much grief from the fans. Interesting to see that he gets such positive comments from the opposition's management after the games. Shame that (some of) the fans cant see it. It's also a shame that people don't value the enormous charity work that Fallon does in the community. He's an asset to the team and to Plymouth in my opinion.”
