PLYMOUTH MARJON have soared to fifth in the Davis Wood Hockey League following back to back Premiership wins.

Marjon followed up their eye-catching 1-0 win at Team Bath Buccaneers with a 3-1 comeback victory over University of Exeter B at UCP Marjon.

The win sweeps Simon Fenwick's Reds up to fifth in the top flight of men's regional hockey, three points behind second-placed Buccs, ahead of an opportunity to make it three victories in a row at struggling Taunton Vale next Saturday.

Plymouth trailed 1-0 at half-time, but with Matt Bell taking charge of midfield in the second half they turned the scores around.

Skipper Fenwick missed an early second half penalty but immediately atoned with a close range leveller before further goals from Ben Thomas and in-form Jevon Rimmer.

PGSOB returned to second in Conference South following a 4-3 derby win at Plymouth Marjon A and followed it up with an 8-0 Devon Cup win over OPMs on Sunday.

Marcus Haes (2), Gareth Roberts and John Brooker scored for PGs at Marjon, where Ethan Davies and Chris Ryan replied for the home side.

Will Hickey (3), Lloyd Milburn (2), Matt Wrench, Colin Wood and an own goal allowed PGs to progress to the Devon Cup semi-finals for a fourth year in a row.

Table-topping OPMs got back on the winning track in Southern 1 with a 2-1 win at PGSOB A.

Ben Lock and skipper Alex Peacock put OPMs 2-0 ahead before Daniel Vaughan's late reply set up a tense final five minutes.

Tavistock beat Duchy 4-2 at Kelly College, while Plymouth Marjon B remain second-from-bottom following a 1-0 home defeat by Bude.

Plymouth Marjon gained their first away West Clubs Women's Hockey League Premier One point of the season with a confidence-boosting 1-1 draw at sixth-placed Yate.

Racheal Stannard scored for ninth-placed Plymouth, who host eighth-placed Bournemouth next Saturday.

Third-placed Plym Valley are level on points with leaders Falmouth and second-placed Bude following a 4-0 home derby win over cross-city rivals Mannamead.

Jo Ricks, Dani Coombes, Kat Pitcher and Grace Smith shared the goals for Valley, who led 1-0 at half time following a closely-fought first half.

Caradon stay on the tails of the top three following a 5-1 win at Cornish rivals Penzance with goals for Molly Walsh (2), Fleur Worden, Marcia Burgess and Glayne Price.

Elle Compton scored a hat-trick as Plymouth Marjon 2 moved up to sixth with a 6-1 home win over Exe 3.

Hannah Wrench (2) and Donna McCormick also scored while central defender Natalie Halford celebrated her debut with a player of the match performance.
