'Boom' in city cycling
CITY residents have contributed to a "boom" in regular cycling, it has been revealed.
British Cycling and Sky have announced that there are now one million more regular cyclists than in 2009 - and many local residents have helped them to reach that figure.
Together with Plymouth City Council, British Cycling and Sky have created hundreds of free opportunities to encourage families in the city to enjoy the fun and freedom of a bike ride, from Sky Ride Plymouth which saw thousands of residents take to traffic-free streets, to Sky Ride Local bike rides where ride leaders have taken smaller groups out.
Councillor Mark Coker, Plymouth City Council cabinet member for transport, said: "Our partnership with British Cycling has been fantastic; together we've provided hundreds of free bike riding opportunities for residents."
