Burglars target Plymouth home and escape with around £35,000 worth of valuables

BURGLARS made off with more than £35,000 worth of jewellery, watches and electrical items after targeting a city house.

The thieves struck the property in the Mainstone area of Plymouth overnight between February 15 and 16.

Among the items taken were a ladies gold and platinum engagement ring housing a 2.09 carat princess cut solitaire diamond ring estimated to be worth around £20,000. Another valuable item taken was an Anaconda gents dress watch with a black leather strap and round back face, with rubies around the circumference and a diamond on each of the standard format numerals which was valued at between £5,000 and £8,000.

Other items included: two ring-mounted full sovereigns, four pendant-mounted full sovereigns with standard link chains, two half sovereigns, two gents heavy link ID-style bracelets, one standard link 18" gold chain, one gold 'T' bar bracelet, one gold 'T' bar necklace, a gents Storm dress wrist watch with a silver metallic bracelet blue coloured body and blue face; two Sony Playstations consoles and controllers. The thieves also took a small combination safe.

Police have alerted second-hand stores and jewellers in the area as part of its Operation Inheritance scheme which warns those shops of potential stolen-items which crooks may try to sell.
