Burglary at industrial unit

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after burglars broke into an industrial unit.

Offenders entered the Cash4Clothes unit at Willow Court, on the Parkway Industrial Estate, between 6.23pm and 6.45pm on Wednesday.

The unit, which buys second hand clothing from the public, was left locked and secure at 4.30pm.

Officers said the offenders escaped with an amount of cash.

Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at the premises or has any information about the burglary is asked to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference EL/12/5144.

THE trial of a steward accused of stealing almost £40,000 from a social club has been adjourned until Monday.

Tonia Bailey, aged 46, was due to give evidence yesterday but the hearing was postponed due to other court business.

Bailey, of The Barbican, denies theft of £19,477.47 from the Saltram Club where she worked as a steward. She has also pleaded not guilty to the theft of a similar sum from the Christmas savings club run for members.

Bailey also denied a third charge of false accounting.

A CAROL Concert is to be performed by the Plymstock Phoenix Singers.

The event takes place at Pomphlett Methodist Church, Pomphlett Road on Sunday, December 2, 3pm.
