Burglary warning by police
POLICE are warning residents in Stonehouse to beware of burglars after a recent rise in cases.
Sergeant Paul Laity, neighbourhood team leader for the area, said there had been eight incidents in the last two weeks.
He said the areas recently affected include North Road West, King Street, Stoke Road flats, Wyndham Square, Victoria Place, Rendle Street, St Mary's Street and Flora Court.
"One of the common factors in these incidents is insecure properties," Sgt Laity said.

"Suspects have gained entry through insecure windows and doors. Among items stolen were two handbags kept near kitchen windows, a laptop, a cheque book and a television.
"We would urge people to keep their window and doors either locked or latched and fastened.
"People should also not leave valuable items within easy reach of windows and doors if they are open as they are more at risk of opportunistic thieves.
"Our Crime Prevention Officers have been visiting victims, giving them relevant advice. We will be stepping up patrols in the areas but we are keen to hear from anyone who has information about these burglaries."
