Bus driver assaulted by beer-drinking passenger
POLICE are appealing for information after a bus driver was assaulted outside the Citybus depot.
The incident happened at about 3pm yesterday after the male driver of the Number 77 Citybus bus asked the passenger to stop drinking from a can of beer.
-

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "The bus picked up the offender – who was carrying an unopened can of beer – at a bus stop close to the Milehouse dept.
"The driver told the man that he could not drink the beer on the bus.
"While approaching the depot, the man opened the beer and began drinking and the bus driver stopped the bus and told him to stop drinking.
"The offender then became aggressive and began shouting at the driver.
"He grabbed him on the upper left arm twice and caused an injury before he ran off."
The bus driver was relieved of his duty and police searched the scene for the man. He was not found and police are now appealing for witnesses to the assault.
The offender is described as being about 5ft 10ins in height. He has a bald head and was wearing a blue striped T-shirt.
Anyone with any information is urged to call the police on 08452 777 444 quoting the crime reference number ED10 1176.

“I think the site of people wandering the street or sat on public transport drinking alcohol is disgusting and i associate street drinking with low class down and outs. I beleive drinking outside of the home or licenced premises or outside areas attached to them should be made illegal as it is in more civalised countries”
