BUS PASSENGERS in the city will receive a financial boost when they are able to travel all day for just 50p.

The special promotion, run by First Devon and Cornwall, Plymouth Citybus and Target Travel in partnership with the city council, will operate on Saturday, March 28 and Saturday, April 4.

The 50p Bus Day aims to encourage people who don't normally use the bus to give it a try, promoting sustainable travel. All passengers will get a ticket allowing them to travel with the same bus company anywhere in the city for the rest of the day, including on park and ride services.

Councillor Kevin Wigens, cabinet member for transport, said: "Research shows there is high ratio of car users following the same routes as buses in Plymouth, increasing congestion and impacting on the environment."
