A YOUNG businessman in Plymouth has designed clothes for students who are doing a diploma in business, administration and finance at City College Plymouth.

Lee Spence, who runs city clothing design company channel-3, has created a new logo for the T-shirts and hoodies owned by students on the course.

He has spent the past nine months on the project – from initial contact to final product – and he said he was now proud of the way the design had come out.

"The designs have come out really well and the students really like them," he said.

"I created an up-pointing arrow logo to symbolise growth. I feel that from the age of 14 to 19 is when you grow most as a person, and especially while on a college diploma course, through learning so much which can point you in the right direction for later life.

"One of the main aspects about the design when it's applied to the T-shirts and sweatshirts is that it points at the student, saying 'This person is on the up.'"

The BAF 14-to-19 diploma course is a new one being run at the college.

Lee said the college wanted those on it to have a logo they could all share.

He launched channel-3 on October 6 last year and said: "During the slump in retail over the past year I've been constantly evolving the brand to the point where it's now been developed into a design empire, producing clothing and artwork as well as working on freelance graphic design projects for clients who desire a unique approach to design briefs.

"I've learnt to not be afraid of change and just embrace it. In this industry, if you're standing still, then you're moving backwards."
