EVERY year Plymouth is home to hundreds of 'cultural events', from shows at Plymouth Pavilions and the Theatre Royal to music, celebration and entertainment in the streets.

The city's winter and summer festivals are packed with festivities – from the Lord Mayor's Day Carnival and the Respect Festival to jazz festivals, fireworks, art shows and events at the city's museums and galleries. But what do you think have been the best, brightest and most memorable events of the last few years in Plymouth?

We want you to send us your pictures of Plymouth at its cultural best – and be in with a chance of winning two tickets to a Plymouth Pavilions show of your choice. Your pictures could also be used as part of the bid to win Plymouth the UK City of Culture 2017 title.

All you have to do is upload a picture from any of Plymouth's cultural events, or cultural icons, to www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/addpicture, with the word 'culture' in the picture title, and you will be entered into our competition.

If you aren't logged in or registered when you go to www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/addpicture, you will be asked to log in before uploading your picture.

Digital publisher Neil Shaw said: "The Plymouth calendar is packed with events of all sizes, and catering to all tastes – live music, art in the galleries and in the streets, dance and drama.

"At some point in the last few years, you will have enjoyed a cultural event in Plymouth, from FlavourFest to the Christmas lights switch on, from Pride to Volkfest. If you have pictures, we want to see them.

"At the end of March, our judges will pick the best – an image which shows Plymouth at its cultural peak, and the picture's creator will win two tickets to a show at Plymouth Pavilions.

"The pictures will also help show the world why we are bidding to be the UK City of Culture 2017."

The competition runs until 12pm on March 31 – and entries will be judged after that time.

The winner will be able to claim two tickets for one of four shows at Plymouth Pavilions – including the sell-out Leona Lewis gig in May (May 18).

You could also choose two tickets for Derren Brown in April (April 11-13), two for Jimmy Carr (April 20) in April or two for Craig Revel Horwood's Strictly Confidential in June (10-13) starring Lisa Riley, Artem Chigvintsev, Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite.

Standard Herald and thisisplymouth rules apply, go to www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/houserules for full terms and conditions.

In judging the entries, the editor's decision is final.

You may submit as many entries as you like for the competition.

The winner will be contacted, and asked for the preference of prize tickets. Any questions or difficulties with uploading, email nshaw@theplymouthherald.co.uk

“Sorry Herald..........been out and about trying to get pictures of Plymouth's culture. You know, junkies shooting up, prossies, yobs committing damage, littering, drunks on Union Street, chavs in McDonalds enjoying their two-course 'meal', but I've failed.........it's very quiet tonight. Will try again tomorrow.”
