A BOWEL cancer charity is offering special funding for doctors and nurses.

Plymouth-based Bowel Cancer West promotes training and research into the disease.

The organisation is offering travelling fellowships for up to five doctors and five nurses in the South West.

A fellowship will support the costs of travel and registration for attendance at a regional, national or international conference linked to bowl cancer.

Bowel Cancer West, launched in 2010, now has 11 directors including four consultants at Derriford Hospital, specialist nurses, former patients, and business leaders.

It has commissioned three research projects to date, held a bowel cancer education roadshow for 50 local GPs in March this year, along with numerous public awareness events which have taken place across Plymouth.
