Car fire 'was deliberate'

A CAR found badly burned in a pub car park was set on fire deliberately, according to police.

The black Seat Ibiza was found in the car park of the Windmill Inn on Thurlestone Walk, Leigham.

It is thought that the car was set alight sometime between 9am on Sunday and 3am on Monday.

Police believe that some kind of accelerant was poured onto the front of the car and was then set alight deliberately.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who might have any information about this incident.

Call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, quoting reference number EL/13/876.

THREE fire engines were sent to a primary school yesterday after reports of a fire.

The fire service received a call at around 10.10am reporting a blaze at Bere Alston Primary School.

The school was quickly evacuated by staff.

On arrival the crews confirmed there had been a fire within a washing machine at the school.

The fire was confirmed to be out on arrival and the washing machine was removed from the building by firefighters.

THE Plymouth branch of Arthritis Care meets on the first Thursday of every month, with the exception of January and August.

Transport can be arranged if required to the venue at the Plymouth Christian Centre, Torridge Way, Efford.

A WOMAN was taken to hospital last night after a vehicle collided with two parked cars in Plymstock.

Two fire engines, one from Plymstock and another from Greenbank, were called to Springfield Road at 7:30pm to assist at the scene.

The woman, in her 60's, was helped out of a car and taken to Derriford Hospital in an ambulance as a precautionary measure.

Firefighters said a car had collided with one parked vehicle, which then shunted into the parked car in front, causing damage to both.
