ADVENTUROUS Plymouth people are being asked to give 'summit' back in 2012.

A children's charity is challenging city people to a mammoth mountain trek as part of an organised summer trip.

Children Today is staging the trek up famous Mount Kilimanjaro to raise vital cash for disabled youngsters.

Would-be explorers can conquer the world's largest free-standing mountain on a ten-day trip from September 14-23. The charity provides specialised equipment for disabled and sick children – and relies solely on donations.

Its 77-kilometre Mount Kilimanjaro challenge will begin with a night in Moshi, Tanzania, before the group sets off on an upwards trail from the Marangu Gate. The path will take hikers along the breathtaking Marangu Route to the giant Uhuru Peak.

Children Today fundraiser Ceri Ward said: "Put yourself to the ultimate test in 2012 and join Children Today in Africa for the definitive physical challenge."
