TV CHEF Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall will be kicking off his fight to save the UK's fish next week.

Hugh's Fish Fight starts on Channel Four at 9pm on Tuesday, and continues on Wednesday and Thursday.

The three-part special for the channel's Fish Season showcases the River Cottage cook's campaign to raise awareness of diminishing fish stocks and to end the practice of discarding fish in European waters.

Mission

Focusing on the three species most widely consumed in the UK – cod, salmon and tuna – Hugh's mission is to understand what is happening to the British fishing industry. Backed by Greenpeace and the Marine Conservation Society, he is aiming for hundreds of thousands of signatories to an open letter to the European Commission calling for an end to discard.

He also plans to look at aquaculture, particularly salmon farming, and also at the environmental issues surrounding the global tuna fisheries in future shows.

More than 36,000 people have signed up online to join Hugh's Fish Fight – find out more for yourself on Tuesday evening.
