Christmas comes early for Alzheimer's Society
KNITTED Santas and homemade Christmas cards were part of a charity festive bazaar.
Plymouth Alzheimer's Society volunteers held the event at Catherine Street Baptist church hall.
The bazaar, attended by the Deputy Lord Mayor and Deputy Lady Mayoress, raised funds for the charity through the sale of hand-crafted goods.
They included knitted goods made by people with dementia and their carers who attend local Alzheimer's Society services, Christmas cards and other Christmas crafts.
Joanna Hulin, community fundraiser, said: "Alzheimer's Society ensures people with dementia and the carers at the heart of all we do and this event is a brilliant example of that.
"These dedicated volunteers have received such fantastic support for people who use and rely on our services by hand making a number of items to sell. Together we can fight dementia."
There are an estimated 3,100 people living with dementia in Plymouth alone with Alzheimer's Society providing vital local support services including Memory café's and singing for the brain sessions across the city.
The sale took place on Saturday, November 5 and raised £275.
