Christmas lights switch-on in Plymouth, 2012
Plymouth's Christmas lights switch-on for 2012 will take place on Thursday, November 22.
Popular film, television and stage actor Christopher Biggins and the now world-famous Military Wives Choir will be launching the festive season in Plymouth as they switch on the city’s Christmas lights together.
The Coca Cola Truck will also be returning to Plymouth in December.
Renowned for his comedy and pantomime performances, Christopher will be starring in this year's Plymouth Theatre Royal Christmas panto, Dick Whittington. He will be playing Sarah the Cook, aided and abetted by the loveable icon of children's television, Basil Brush.
Christopher will be joined on stage by the Military Wives Choir, who will be singing songs from their new album 'Stronger Together'.
The festive fun starts at 4pm with music and entertainment on the stage at the top of Cornwall Street. A disabled viewing area is located opposite the stage near the Methodist Central Hall.
Presenters from Heart and ITV Westcountry will host the stage entertainment, which will include live interviews with guests.

The traditional Christmas Market in Armada Way will also be opening to coincide with the switch-on celebrations and will be selling its wares until 24 December.
Late night shopping will run every Thursday from 22 November to 20 December, with most shops open until 8pm. In the week before Christmas (starting 17 December) most shops will be open every night until 9pm.

The Coca Cola truck will be on Plymouth Hoe on Tuesday December 18 between 1pm and 9pm.
The truck will make more than 60 stops across the country this festive season.
