Bell ringing captain Richard Warwick told the BBC: "There's pretty major structural damage to the church.

"One of the four pinnacles on the roof, which weigh several tonnes, has exploded and the main part of it has made a huge gaping hole in the body of the main church."

If its so "pretty" why is he complaining ?”

“......'Nevman'. Yes the spelling is awful. Today we hit an all time low in the A38 Closed at Manadon report with the spelling of 'the'. The Heralds attempt being 'teh'. A family friend called Mike was the main spell checker at the herald but was made redundant 15years ago, never replaced. His job daily to read every sentence before letting go to press. Perhaps they could get him back to save 'teh' sinking Herald !”

“We had such a storm 2-3 weeks ago, at about the same time as the one this morning. I thought it was noisy traffic but was thunder. Horizontal lightning across the sky is quite something. Not that rare.”

“Has it floated away, or do you mean lightning?

(Tip for Herald's "expert" writers: relying on spellcheckers is no substitute for learning how to spell, especially where ****nyms are concerned...)”
