City backs in England squad
THREE city-born youngsters have been named in England Under-20s squad to take on Italy in Rovigo this weekend.
Backs Henry Slade, Jack Arnott and Tommy Bell are all set for their debuts at that level in the Six Nations match.
Also included in the squad are former Ivybridge Community College pupils Ben Spencer and Sam Hill and dual registered Plymouth Albion prop Luke Cowan-Dickie.
However, the calls for Slade and Arnott are particularly significant.
Former Plymouth College fly-half Slade has not played for four months due, firstly to a back injury and then a knee problem.
Slade had just forced his way into Plymouth Albion's starting line-up when he got injured.
The 18-year-old is dual registered with Albion from Exeter.
Arnott's call-up is also significant as he is still eligible for England Under-18s.
Ivybridge Community College student, Arnott, has certainly enjoyed a fortnight to remember.
The Devonport Services product has made his first Exeter appearance and first start in their LV=Cup games against Wasps and Bath.
He has also been dual-registered for Albion and could yet have a part to play in keeping his hometown club in the Championship.
Former Ivybridge Community College pupil Bell left Plymouth when he was 16 to join Premiership club Sale Sharks' academy.
He is currently gaining experience playing for Leeds in the Championship.
Full-back Bell, younger brother of Wasps and former Albion player Chris, is currently second top scorer in the league.
