Plymouth diving ace Shanice Lobb wins bronze at Olympic Festival
CITY diving star Shanice Lobb insists she is setting her sights even higher after claiming silverware at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival yesterday.
The 14-year-old Plymouth Diving sensation was back in action on the final day of the Festival, looking to improve on Friday's seventh-place finish in the individual 10m platform.
In that same event British team-mate Georgia Ward bagged a bronze medal with the two then joining forces for the 10m synchro at the Sydney International Aquatic Centre.
And it was a case of safety in numbers for the Plymouth Diving Club member as Lobb finally got her hands on a medal as she and Ward finished third.

That ensured that Lobb didn't travel home empty handed and the Devonport High School for Girls student admits it has given her the confidence to aim for bigger and better things.
"Winning the bronze medal in the synchro competition with Georgia was a great way to finish the festival," said Lobb.
"We hadn't actually trained before this competition and it was the first time we competed together, so we are really happy to have won a medal with our first go.
"All-in-all the Australian Youth Olympic Festival was a really good competition and it was such a great experience for me to have.
"Next up for me is the senior British Championships in February and Georgia and I are looking to do the same event so, hopefully, we can improve.
"Being in Australia has been good practice and it has given me the confidence that we can improve even further,"
Lobb was not the only Plymouth Diving Club member celebrating on the final weekend Down Under, with Francesca Del Celo picking up bronze in the three-metre synchro also alongside Ward.
And the 16-year-old admitted it had helped lift her mood after the morning had seen her finish agonisingly short of the podium in fourth in the three-metre springboard individual event.
"The bronze medal felt really good and really brought my mood up considering that the individual in the morning didn't go according to plan," said Del Celo.
"I did a new personal best on my first five required dives but after that it didn't go as well as I had hoped.
"But to end with a bronze medal was brilliant because Georgia and I were only put together last minute and we hadn't trained before so it was a really good result."
