The tournament proved to be a double delight for Pillage as with his brother Alex, and James Murphy, he went on to claim the Youth C boys' team title with 10,212 points.

The Plymouth trio were more than 400 points ahead of the second-placed team and their score is an event record.

Ensuring it was a family affair for the Pillages, elder sister, Kelcey, who is 17, secured silver in the Youth A girls' tournament.

In addition, Bryson, Myles Pillage and Murphy have been selected for the Talent ID Programme, as a direct result of their performances.

They will attend a number of training weekends from which they hope to be selected to compete for Great Britain.

Small wonder, then, that coach Andy Hill was fulsome in his praise of his charges.

"This is a fantastic set of results", said Hill, who is Plymouth College director of modern pentathlon and fencing.

"I am particularly proud of the boys' team score which is the highest ever in the history of the competition and breaks the previous record by 500 points.

"It was great to see Kerenza and Myles top the podiums and rounds off a particularly good year for the Plymouth College Modern Pentathlon and Fencing Academy, which has claimed 13 national titles."
