PLYMOUTH College's U13 girls' cricket team have reached the Devon final of the Lady Taverners Indoor Cricket Competition.

The school booked their place in the county final by winning the Plymouth stage of the competition against Stoke Damerel Community College and Plymstock School.

Up against Stoke Damerel first, Plymouth College scored 98-7 with Abbie Ingram, Laura Cosby, Tommy Eyston and Alice Simmonds all contributing. They then bowled Stoke Damerel out for 87 with Ingram and Cosby taking wickets backed up by excellent fielding by Emma Fullalove, Dizzie Leman, Lizzie Ham, Alice Simmonds and outstanding wicket keeping by Alice Avens.

In the second match against Plymstock School, the bowling by Ingram, Cosby and Simmonds was outstanding. They were supported well by Avens behind the stumps (an umpires' nightmare taking the bails off every ball!) and astute fielding by the rest of the team saw Plymstock bowled out for just 14.

To let the players have a longer match, Plymstock batted out their 8 overs and ended up on 48 runs for 14 wickets with everyone in the Plymouth College side getting a bowl. Plymouth College then knocked off the 15 runs needed to win for the loss of one wicket and went onto amass 101-2 in their 8 overs, with Alice Simmonds and Abbie Ingram having to retire.

The Devon final will take place at Exeter University on Monday March 11.
