Combining fun and fundraising
EACH Music of the Night gives 29 Commando Regiment a major
headache in deciding which charities should benefit from any
profits.
A large number of local and military charities have been
supported since 1992, with over £500,000 raised so far. This
year's chosen charities will include:
THE HERALD'S GIVE A CHILD CHANCE
There are 7,000 children and their families who use
children's services within the Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust.
The charity aims to help them live a more comfortable life.
FORD PARK CEMETERY
Having launching its Rejuven8 appeal in April, Ford Park
Cemetery hopes to raise funds in order to restore the Grade ll
listed Victorian chapel into a community venue.
BLESMA
Blesma helps serving and ex-Service men and women who either
lose limbs, the use of their limbs, or one or both eyes as a
result of their service.
SEAFARERS' UK
The only central fund making grants to nautical charities
looking after the welfare needs of seafarers and their
dependants in the Royal Navy, the Merchant Navy and the Fishing
Fleets.
SSAFA FORCES HELP
This national military charity helps serving and ex-service
personnel and their families with advice, financial support,
the provision of wheelchairs, furniture and friendship visits
for example.
THE ARMY BENEVOLENT FUND
A national charity, the Fund supports soldiers, former
soldiers and their families, with around half the money raised
each year given directly to individuals in need.
PLYMOUTH AND DISTRICT RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS GROUP SUPPORT
A new local support group for the National Rheumatoid
Arthritis Society, PADRAGS aims to promote awareness of the
illness and the impact it has on personal and family life, work
and social activity.
CHILDREN'S HOSPICE SOUTH WEST
The Children's Hospice has been providing expert care for
life-limited children since 1995, helping to make the most of
short and precious lives.
THE EDDYSTONE TRUST
The Trust provides a range of services including
information, training and support for anyone affected by HIV
and AIDS across south and west Devon.
