UNCANNY return to Plymouth with a Flourish – opening the new Barbican Theatre season.

The first show in the spring series of work at the city venue is Optimism, which the visiting theatre company bring with a dose of pessimism in the mix.

There is a dark core to the comic tale of what happens when someone is convinced that their decision – obviously wrong to everybody else – is still the right one?

Dark clown work combines with multimedia and physical theatre in a production that is, Uncanny say, "brutal and dreamlike, presenting a constant stream of unlikely characters, peculiar situations and striking visuals". Phew.

The Flourish season is of new pieces and works in progress being created in the South West and covers dance, theatre, film, music and spoken word.

Optimism is on next Friday at 7.30pm. For more information and to book go to www.barbicantheatre.co.uk or call the box office on 01752 267131.
