THE Lush cosmetics shop at Drake's Circus in Plymouth will feature a "Wanted" poster in its window this weekend as part of its campaign to end animal cruelty.

The poster "names and shames" Neil Parish, the Conservative Member of the European Parliament who represents Plymouth and the South West.

The ethical retailer is offering a £1,000 reward for anyone who can "bring him to his senses".

Lush Cosmetics claims that Mr Parish is failing to stop some of the worst suffering endured by animals in laboratories.

The Dorset-based business boasts that it does not test its products or ingredients on animals and actively campaigns to end animal experiments.

Lush said that Mr Parish was responsible for the weakening of a piece of EU legislation meant protect animals in laboratories, which MEPs will debate on Tuesday.

Lush claims that Mr Parish and his Agricultural Committee have gutted the original proposal from the European Commission with a series of amendments that considerably weaken the provisions put in place to protect animals.

"Neil Parish is advocating some horrific practices, such as allowing the capture of wild monkeys for use in the research industry and allowing animals to suffer through experiments that are both severe and prolonged," a Lush statement said.
