THE Brunel Ladies Harmony Chorus has raised more than £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of a member who passed away from the deadly disease.

A free concert was arranged at Launceston Town Hall to raise the funds for Margaret Sanderson, known by friends as Margy, who was a member of the chorus for over 10 years and worked as a wardrobe mistress.

Val Brice, chairman of the Brunel Ladies Harmony Chorus, said: "We wanted to remember Margy because she was a lovely lady and she would do anything for anyone. She was gentle but very strong-willed.

"We wanted to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support after everything they did for her."

More than 60 people attended the concert where the chorus performed some of Margy's favourite songs including 'In My Life' under the guidance of musical director Belyth Knight.

Before Margy died she worked for Tesco and to remember her the superstore donated prizes to the raffle.

Val added: "It was a really nice concert and we remembered Margy how she would have wanted."
