THERE is no cruelty in Sutton MP Linda Gilroy's office.

The Labour MP says her constituency office in Plymouth is now officially Cruelty-Free

Mrs Gilroy has joined forces with anti-vivisectionists to support the campaign to end animal testing for household products and their ingredients.

Her office will now only be using products approved by the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV).

Michelle Thew, chief executive of the BUAV, said: "It's fantastic that Linda is supporting our campaign and putting Plymouth on the cruelty-free map. I call on all politicians to follow her lead and sign up to this important campaign."

In 1997 the Government stopped granting licences for testing cosmetics on animals, because the suffering caused was not justified given the trivial nature of the products tested.

There is no such ban for household products.

“These people do tend to annoy me, they are happy to benefit from treatment in hospitals from drugs that have been tested on animals yet they wan't it banned. or do they really, perhaps it's all front to try and con more votes from the public.”
