ACCORDING to The Herald, October 22, Labour Cllr Mark Coker and the city council want to promote cycling and walking in order to form closer links between different areas of the city.

One has to wonder just how many councillors, if any, walk and cycle around the city. Dare I suggest that they lead by example; this would have a two-fold affect, one freeing up parking spaces and two, promoting a healthier gaggle of councillors.

Before encouraging people to walk it is time that the numerous overgrown pavements were cleared, one good example is Old Wharf Oreston. For nearly a year now a blown down tree has completely blocked the pavement along with blackberry bushes.

Pedestrians are forced to walk down the road for 150 yards, obviously not seen when councillors were in the area.

“I doubt you'll see any of the current crop of Radford councillors in Oreston.”
