A CITY pre-school has been celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee – with cream teas and crown-making.

Youngsters at Compton Pre-School also got to have their faces painted as families enjoyed a tombola, raffle and refreshments.

"It was a lovely way to celebrate our special Queen," said owner and manager Sharon Matthews.

The pre-school, which moved into a new classroom attached to Compton Primary School last year, held the first of several Diamond Jubilee events for children in the area.

Further street parties in Efford and Peverell over the Bank Holiday weekend will include a range of fun activities for young people.
