"There was no damage to railway lines and at 12.40pm bridge examiners advised trains could travel at normal speed."

There was a delay of 22 minutes to the 10am train service from Penzance to London Paddington and to all other services there was a five minute delay.

A police spokeperson said: "The incident caused some disruption at the time while the vehicle was recovered and Network Rail assessed the bridge."

“There would of been repeater signs on the approach for the low bridge and he would also, by law, have a vehicle height indicator in his cab.

    No excuse. Shoot him!!”

“Either he can't read the road signs or he doesn't know the height of his vehicle. Whichever it is he is a bad driver and should be disciplined and his firm should pay the cost of any damage.”

“No excuses Mr Driver - that is bad driving.
