IS someout there having a laugh? How will we ever become a City of Culture?

Just look around you, what in our present state have we got to offer? We have constantly failed to promote ourselves, history and culture for decades.

The money you are going to spend would be better spent on potholes, cleaning our filthy city, cleaning buildings in the city centre, supporting local business, restoring the Civic Centre and many of the hundreds of things I can identify in my city that need to be put right before you even think of a City of Culture.

Perhaps the lead on this bid would like to tell us what their salary is, or are you doing it voluntarily and for nothing?

“I agree with David Luckham and have made my views known on this madness before. Someone will be earning big bucks out of this while more urgent needs in Plymouth fall by the wayside. Look at Plymouth International Book Festival last year; the manager's job was advertised at £25K+ extras and went to someone in Bristol who didn't know anything about Plymouth. I wonder how far £25K+ would go (not to mention everything else) on fixing the bits falling off Civic Centre? They should have taken the Council HQ out to Manadon Engineering College when it was still there. It would have been an ideal location and to be honest, Manadon and Crownhill is more the 'centre' of Plymouth than where the city centre is now.”
