Cycling for heroes
A CABBIE has celebrated his 50th birthday by getting four pals to join him in a 150-mile charity bike ride.
Gary Walsh managed to coerce his three taxi-driver friends, Martin Pettit, Steve Bohan and Darren Mayor, and lorry-driver Karl Walsh, to cycle from Gloucester to Plymouth in aid of Help for Heroes.
Gary, who grew up in Plymouth but now lives in Gloucester, said he was 'over-the-moon' to have raised £2,500 for the cause which he chose because his father was in the Navy.
The team conquered the feat in just three days, nailing 85 miles over 11 hours on day one.
