KIND-hearted cyclists are being asked to join in a charity ride to help others.

The HeartSWell South West (HSW) charity bike ride 'Got Wheels, Moor Challenge' hopes to see all manner of riders get on two wheels – or more – to help support heart patients and their families in the region.

The HSW charity supports specific cardiac research projects in local hospitals in the South West, helps provides new equipment and provides grants to fund specialist nursing care.

All riders will be setting off from Plym Valley at Coypool and can admire the panoramic view of Dartmoor National Park, taking part in the fun event alongside family, friends, or for the competitive, in front of workmates.

This year's Moor Challenge will head off from the Coypool park and ride car park at 9.30am on Sunday, October 7. The short route for those who want a more leisurely ride is around seven miles, while the medium route is about 15 miles which will follow the Plym Valley cycle track, from Coypool to Clearbrook and back to Coypool. If you really want a challenge on the day, you can tackle the longer route which will be around 20 miles.

A spokesman for the HSW said: "Our experience from former events is that when asked to sponsor such a worthwhile event most people are readily willing to back riders. The sponsorship for similar events in the past has paid for invaluable items of equipment for the cardiothoracic centre at Derriford and GP surgeries in the South West."
