DJM officials said they would be looking for a new main sponsor from the beginning of 2013.

But secretary Brian Rimes said the future of the league, which has thousands of young players in its ranks, would not be affected.

He said: "Effectively, Wrigleys are giving us less support, but they've been very good to us over the years and they've agreed to continue with the Fair Play Awards and sponsorship of a Plymouth Argyle match next year.

"The league will continue, although, obviously, we will look at whatever needs to be looked at.

"But we already put in place something to cope with us losing a sponsor and enable us to continue, so there's no way the league will go.

"The league has 310 teams in it and we have got things in place to go on for a couple of years."

Rimes acknowledged that the league would need a new main sponsor for the 2013-14 season.

He said: "We will be writing to individuals to see if they can help."

DJM chairman Bernard Leach was philosophical about Wrigley's decision to reduce their support of the league.

He said: "Wrigley has been fantastic to us and I won't hear anything detrimental said against them.

"Things in life change and we appreciate that. We're very grateful for the 15 years we've had with them."

A Wrigley spokeswoman confirmed that the company would not be supporting the DJM at the same level next year.

She said: "We'll still have a partnership with them, but we will be giving them less support."

ANY firm interested in sponsoring the DJM should contact 07836 379 937, or 07860 455 550.
