Darwin exhibition at library
A SPECIAL exhibition is being held at Plymstock Library to celebrate the life and work of naturalist Charles Darwin.
The touring exhibition is visiting the library to mark the 200th anniversary of Darwin's birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his most famous work, On the Origin of Species.
After already stopping off at 25 other locations across the UK, the exhibition – entitled Darwin Today – is aimed at family groups and shows how Darwin's ideas still influence thinking today, from biology and engineering to the social sciences, art and humanities.
Prof Alan Thorpe, of Research Councils UK, which organised the exhibition, said: "It's great that Darwin Today will be visiting Plymstock Library and we hope that many people have the opportunity to see it here.
"The exhibition brings together evolution research from each of the seven UK Research Councils. The family-friendly displays demonstrate the significant impact Darwin's scientific ideas about evolution have had on modern research."
The exhibition will run until November 28 and is open during normal library hours – 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 4pm on Saturdays.

“Darwin acknowledged and scientically proved the most effective methodology and approach for continued survival of God's original breathed wisdom is in actuality mutual support and co-operation amongst the diversity of the microcosm in Earth's continuity of freely breathed oxygen. On reflection; indeed although many different ideas and viewpoints have evolved since the Victorian era, especially in equal opportunities and human rights; although we may never know anything of any pass at all, undoubtedly the original orders when defined in modern language would be apparent as ever.
