Determined Hendrick captures bronze at Leeds
ASHLEY HENDRICK took a well deserved bronze in the boys' platform competition at the British Junior Elite Diving Championships in Leeds.
The determined Hendrick performed eight out of nine dives on the 10 metre platform in claiming third place.
Matthew Dixon, who was the youngest competitor aged just 10, reached all three of the finals in his events, recording two fifth places and a sixth position.
Kayleigh Sinclair made all three of her finals in the girls' 9-13 years events and finished sixth in each of them with new personal bests.
Sinclair teamed up with Shanice Lobb in the 9-13 years synchro three metre event to finish third.
Lobb recorded seventh and tenth place finishes and then made the final in the one metre platform, finishing fourth.
Jenny Bunsell registered two eighth places in the three metre and platform event in the 9-13 years group. As a result of her performance, she was selected by Fito for the CAMO International Canada in December.
Competing in his first elite junior championship, Charlie Wood dived in the boys' 16-18 years platform event. After his first four dives he was lying second behind current Junior European Champion James Milton (Sheffield), but overall Wood finished fifth, scoring 374.15 in the final.

“Great to have an article about Platform diving and I add my congratulations to all the divers. However, this event took place about 6 weeks ago and James Milton is no longer the current European Junior Champion.”
