FORMER Plymouth Devil Tom Brown is targeting winning silverware this year with National League rivals Weymouth Wildcats.

Plympton-based Brown rode for the city side for three seasons before leaving at the start of the year for Isle of Wight.

However, after just one season with the Islanders, Brown opted to return to Weymouth, whom he rode for in 2005.

The 25-year-old was part of the Knockout Cup winning side in 2005 and is hoping for more trophies this year.

"Hopefully we can hit the ground running and win some silverware this season, it's looking pretty promising," said Brown.

"I would like to win the riders' championship myself and hopefully win something with Weymouth as well.

"If we can get another six-and-a-half-pointer in, we should have a good time. Then it just depends on the reserve riders.

"I really like the track and I hope the fans can come back so we get some good crowds."

Brown's upbeat look ahead to the new season, which starts in April, comes after Weymouth's future has been secured.

The Wildcats were in danger of folding, with their future reliant on the management team finding a new main sponsor by January 24.

That sponsor has now been found with the team now being known as the Weymouth Weyline 777 777 Wildcats in 2010.

Wildcats chairman Phil Bartlett said: "I am absolutely over the moon at being able to announce this news and wish to thank Ian Ferguson of Weyline for pledging his support for the forthcoming season.

"Weyline coming on board is a huge boost to the club and means we will definitely be lining up at the start tapes for the 2010 season."
